The trail wound through  panoramic river and white limestone cliff landscapes passing occasionally over quaint wooden bridges. Ground hogs, numerous snakes, box turtles and various birds scurried out of the GO-BAM path as they peddled through stops and towns called Boone Cave, Terrapin Hills, Bonne Femme, McBaine, Eagle Bluff and Easley until they reached Hartsburg at the 24 mile mark where they broke for lunch.

Journeying on that afternoon they passed Claysville, Capitol View, Jefferson City and Wainwright. As the temperature hit the mid-nineties the road crew became even more important and baths of ice water were common. 14 bikers (10 adults & 4 children) pressed on and were cheered as the last of the riders completed the 47.1 miles to Tebbetts, the final destination, around 5:00 PM. They were joined by all the bikers, supporters and other family members Denese & Lon H. (Columbia, MO); Jake F. (Midway, MO); and Brent, Cody and Cailey B. (Raytown, MO) for dinner where the fishermen of the family cooked Cajun fish and fried Spoonbill.

The
GO-BAM GROUP

21 members ended the evening by tossing sleeping bags in rows of bunk beds, with bikes stacked between, at the Turner Katy Trail Shelter. Apparently a good time was had by all; word is that GO-FAM (Golden Offspring-Floating/Canoeing Across Missouri) is already being planned for 2003
