Jethro was fostered by Celeste in San Deigo before he flew to Nancy in Texas.... here he is with Celeste and her Geiler.

I hadn't received my name list from CCI but when Nancy said the pup she got freely gave kisses.... I knew it was Neon Green. All the pups gave kisses but he was known by all as THE "kisser". Nancy is a first time Puppy Raiser and is very determined to do a great job. Nancy said Jethro quickly showed her he could chew, lick, jump, make noise and cuddle to get her started.

Nancy fell in love with Jethro but her job changed and she was assigned to a different department. The office space they used is owned by the Veterans Health Care System. The VA refused to let her bring Jethro to work with her. BOO HISS to them! It was decided that Jethro would go to another Puppy Raiser. Jan and Jeff Phelps took him and we hear he is doing really good.

(Nancy later moved back to the college campus and received a new black lab puppy to raise named Spirit, we wish them luck.)
Jethro is growing up and Jan and Jeff have sent several pictures of him. Jan says that Jethro is still a lover and never met anyone he didn't love. His best buddy is (COC) Kitter. Jan and Kitter do volunteer work with Allen Community Outreach - home visits for seniors, Meals on Wheels, etc. She says he has various colors of vests that he wears when they go visiting and the people just love him, and now they have also fallen in love with Jethro.

Jethro is going to be turned in to Advanced Training in Oceanside February 2003, originally it was May. Jan, Jeff and Nancy will all be going on the trip with him. This is going to come way to fast for Jan I know.

Jethro is getting great reports.... they love Jethro's calm nature and ease of management on and off leash. As levels of expectations have increased, Jethro has remained consistent with his initiation and performance. He will be rotating through class to see if there is an appropriate placement for him. The class will consist of both service and skilled companion students. He is happy, healthy, and still a big love bug!!!!"

Great news! Jethro graduated as a Service Dog with a gentleman named Doug and has moved to Colorado Springs with him. Doug needs a Service Dog to pick up thing that he drops, open doors, pick items off grocery shelves for him, etc. Doug had been waiting for 5 years for a service dog, and said it must have been because he was waiting for Jethro.

Jethro's partner, Doug, is a graphics artist and works for a company in Colorado Springs. His boss is so supportive of Doug getting a service dog to help him that he drove Doug down from Colorado Springs at the beginning of Team Training, flew home, and was flew back on Saturday evening to drive him home. Doug said all his co-workers can hardly wait to meet Jethro. Their office already has an on-site cat, so this will round things out. Doug is a very gentle-natured man, soft-spoken - a perfect match for Jethro. He absolutely adores Jethro, and Jethro absolutely adores Doug.

Jan believes Jethro has found his destiny, helping Doug. Doug has promised to keep in touch with us to let us know how Jethro and he are doing.

We are so PROUD JETHRO!
