The Middle Fork starts off with a historical remnant, the Tunnel chute, fashioned from solid bedrock by Gold Rush miners. Here you plunge into a narrow granite sluice box barely the width of the raft and end in an emerald pool that flows gently through a man made tunnel in the mountain. Rapids such as Karma, Grumby and Bus Wreck alternate with calm stretches following the tunnel.
