Rafting the South Fork
American River - Class III

The South Fork, the West's most popular river, has earned its reputation because of its unique combination of excellent whitewater, beautiful scenery and great historical interest.  the South Fork of the American trips are divided into two separate runs:  the Upper "Chili Bar" and the lower "Gorge" run.  Each requires six to seven hours to navigate roughly 12 miles of river while winding through beautiful rolling hills alternating with steep canyon walls showered with wildflowers.  River difficulty = Class III - a good beginner run.
