This page is for the Birds. SORRY, I couldn't help myself! |
This is my beautiful Guido... he came to live with me when he was 10 weeks old in 1983. He's a Mustache Parrot who was hand raised in the U.S. by Kim and Judy Edwards. Mustache parrots are indigenous to India |

Guido's favorite things to say are "What are you doing?", "Are you cold?" and "Good Morning", and don't forget he expects a kiss after Good Morning. Guido loves everyone and thing.... no fears.. which was a little dangerous until the cat learned he wasn't dinner...but Guido likes living dangerously.... he's learned to call the cat and can say "here kitty kitty" clear enough for the cat's ears to flip in wonder. Guido left us in September of 2009 at the great age of 26. |

SO, do you come here often? |
![]() Australian aviculturists refer to Lady Gouldian Finches as "the king of all finches", they are indeed one of the most colorful of birds. I am an accidental breeder of Goulds. Goulds have a mating song and dance that is both comical and interesting. |
![]() There are three recognized color forms of this species; they are distinguished from each other by black, red or yellow coloration of the upper part of the head. Goulds are very social and live in flocks of thousands in Australia. |
![]() We also have Mourning Doves who made a nest in a hanging plant on the back porch. They return to the same nest each year about February. They raise two baby birds at a time one after another until Fall. (above) Two babies about a week from flying. |
|
![]() The doves quietly watch all our actions and will not fly unless you come within inches. If they do get scared enough to fly (the breaker box & meter is located close to their nest) they do the "wounded wing trick" flopping around by the pool trying so hard to distract us. I wondered why they chose such a busy place especially with so many dogs.... then I came up with an answer.... no stray cats would dare come in our back yard...not a bad deal if you're a dove with babies. |
